After celebrating the completion of the plant in the area in May, 2005, HMC started manufacturing new models of Sonata. HMC plans to cultivate the new US plant into the Mecca of medium- to large-auto production that will be praised for its high performance, high quality, and high profitability.

With the establishment of the plant in Alabama, HMC has also rigorously sought partnerships with other agencies of research, development, and testing in the US, including the US Design & Technical Center, an auto research institute in Detroit, and a test-drive course in California to complete the localization of the entire process from design and planning to test drive and consumer evaluation. The extensive network of HMC with these institutes and organizations will help the company produce cars that cater to the tastes and sensitivity of the consumers in the US.

HMC, which has finished the stage of process for global management by establishing production centers in India, Turkey, China, and the US, is now on its way to becoming one of the top players in the global auto industry.
